Full Bleed Printing

Full Bleed Printing is a term that refers to printing from one edge of the paper to the other without the standard white borders that most personal printers leave. The paper is trimmed after printing to ensure the ink runs fully to the edge and does not stop short of it. Bleed ensures that no unprinted edges are seen in the final trimmed print.

This is useful for printing brochures, posters, and other marketing materials.

Printers can not usually print all the way to the edge of the paper. To achieve this look, designs are set up to include a bleed. Digital Pro Lab asks for a 1/8" bleed all around the image. This means that if you need an 8.5x11 document printed with a full bleed, you would set up the artwork to be 8.75x11.25 inches.
